Reports reaching us say three Improvised Explosive Devices have gone off close to the rally ground of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okrika, Rivers State.
According to Channels, this has caused a stampede at the venue of
the rally, as people gathering for the rally scampered for safety.
The party supporters, in their numbers, had gathered and were waiting for the leaders of the party in the state to arrive the venue of the rally.
The explosion has however caused an abrupt end to the proposed rally, although other sources on ground say the rally will go on as planned.
Okirika is the home of Nigeria’s first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday sent eight ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening and approval.
The names, contained in a letter signed by Jonathan and read by
Senate President David Mark, include senator Musiliu Obanikoro from
Lagos state.
Others are, Mrs.Patricia Akwashiki (Nasarawa); Mrs. Hauwa’u Lawan (Jigawa); Prof nicholas Akise Ada (Benue); Col. Augustine Akobundu retd. (Abia); Mr. Fidelis Nwankwo (Ebonyi); Mr. Kenneth Kobani (Rivers) and Senator Joel Ikenya (Taraba).

Six PDP House Of Reps Members Defect To APC, LP
Another set of six Peoples Democratic Party members of the House of
Representatives announced their defection to other political parties
on Tuesday.
The move came just as lawmakers reconvened from recess in Abuja.
Three of the defectors joined the All Progressives Congress, two
joined the Labour Party, while one switched camp to Accord party.

MESSAGE: The first to learn about worthy worship is that worship should be in accordance to the commandments of God, but it should not be mechanical. In other words, obedience must precede any act of worship and it and it must come from the depth of our being. 1 Samuel 15:22 says, “And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than fat of rams.” After worshipper who is not living in obedience to the word of God worships in vain. Of such are Christians who call Jesus “Lord, Lord”, but fail to do the will of God. Their effort is fruitless and their act of worship does not move God. You will not worship God in vain in Jesus’ Name. Any act of worship that is mechanical, devoid of true love, faith, reverent adoration, honour and praise to the Almighty God will not be acceptable. Worship that is worthy and acceptable to God must be offered in spirit and in truth; it must be offered wholeheartedly and with total submission to the will of God. In Matthew 22:37, Jesus enjoined us to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and might; this means that worthy worship requires putting in everything we have. The right attitude is required for our worship to be counted worthy and acceptable to God. The first step is to carry out a self-examination to be sure that our heart is right with God (1 Corinthians 11:28). Then we are to carefully follow the footsteps of David in 2 Samuel 12:20a: “Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped:” David got up from the earth; this means he separated himself from earthy things. Next, he washed up to properly cleanse himself from every form of dirt and iniquity. He proceeded to anoint himself and change his filthy garments to that of holiness and righteousness. Only then did he have the confidence to enter the presence of God and was able to worship God without any hindrance. As you approach the presence of God today, your worship will be counted worthy and acceptable before Him in Jesus’ Name.
Prayer Point: Father, let the blessings of worthy and acceptable worship be mine today in Jesus’ Name.

Ex-President tears PDP membership card in public
Former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo has dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that, he is no longer interested in the party.
He tore his PDP membership card but has not declared his interest to join any other party.
The former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the ruling PDP declared this Monday morning while addressing newsmen at his Presidential Hilltop mansion, Abeokuta.
To let the whole world know that he meant his decision, the Balogun of Owu Kingdom also tore his party card into shreds in the presence of newsmen.
Ebora Owu as Obasanjo is fondly called said if he is involved in partisan politics it would deter his mission to have a better Nigeria, noting that, he was ready to sacrifice his membership of the PDP and become a statesman.
While fielding question from newsmen on the purported rumour of being expelled from the party, he angrily directed one of his aides to get him the membership card.
As he was handed the card minutes later, he threw it away and declared that, “if this is why we cannot have the Nigeria we desire, I am no longer part of this.”
The former President, who later handed over his PDP membership card to the ward 11 chairman in Abeokuta North local government, Alhaji Surajudeen Oladunjoye instructed him to tear the remains of the card.
In quick response, the ward chairman, Oladunjoye, who led over 350 PDP members of the ward to a fact-finding mission at the Obasanjo’s residence tore the card into shreds to the admiration of the party followers.
Surprisingly, all the party members who were with their cards also tore their cards amid jubilation and banter throwing.
He maintained that a better Nigeria remains his desire, adding that, he will do anything to achieve that.
Obasanjo however advised Nigerians to go all out on the election days and cast their votes for a better Nigeria.
Obasanjo was a founding member of the PDP and the first democratically elected president of the party. He was elected twice (1999 and 2003) on the platform of the PDP as president of Nigeria.
But the former Head of State has increasingly become frustrated by the tactics and style of President Goodluck Jonathan in handling insurgency, the economy and more recently over the postponement of the general elections.
